Trip advisor - 24 September 2011 "A charming rural inn with excellent accommodation and food"
We received a warm yet relaxed welcome to this cosy inn. The accommodation was very comfortable, and the restaurant serving excellent food did not disappoint. The views from the dining room were magnificent. We also encountered some local residents who added colour to the generally pleasant atmosphere of this rural community. The locally produced cider was an addition we hadn't expected.

My husband and I have just got home after a meal at the Blue Ball Inn celebrating our 2nd wedding anniversary. It is a wonderful, cosy inn with all the old bits and bobs you would expect in an old country pub. it was totally immaculate and had a lovely warm atmosphere. The food was absolutely fab, cooked to perftection and definately value for money.

All of the staff were friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. I was even more impressed with the attention I received from the staff when I fell down the stairs(no alcohol involved!), very caring and emathetic! Will definately visit again.... once I have got over the embarrassment of the stairs incident :)

Many thanks to you all at the Blue Ball x

The food here is exceptional! Sooo tasty. Duckling with Plum sauce on a bed of rosti is to be highly recommended! I went here last night with my husband for our 8th wedding anniversary and had a wonderful evening. We were both very impressed. The service is friendly and extremely helpful, the atmosphere is cosy and intimate and the food delicious. Have been here 3 times and would definitely like to go again soon. (Tonight if I could but unfortunately I think I'll have to make the dinner myself this time.. ;))

This place is off the beaten track nestling on the southern slopes of the Quantock Hills at the end of a track. Came here last year and it had closed down but glad to see it is open again and seemingly doing well. This really is a lovely spot and the views from the restaurant stretch for miles. Food was good too and this will definitely be a place we come back to next time we are wandering around the Quantocks.

Not the easiest place to find but its worth it once you are there. We enjoyed a Thursday night dinner - lovely food, efficient & friendly service & a pleasant atmosphere in a character building.

The cottages are immaculate, the food is to die for, the locals are friendly and the staff are the most accomodating people I have ever came across!!! Great location, plenty to do in the surrounding areas to keep couples and families occupied for a lengthy stay!! I couldn't reccomend this place enough!!! And the food!!! WOW!!!!

Trip advisor - 7th August 2011 “A fantastic hidden gem. Accommodation, food & service all superb.
We visited this superbly friendly country pub in July 2011, staying for two nights in one of their beautiful holiday let cottages. From the moment we arrived we were treated like family and this continued throughout our stay, not only from all the staff but from the locals too. Although we were staying in a self catering cottage we decided to eat from the pub/restaurants superb menu, the food could not be faulted in any way at all, everything being presented as you'd expect in a fancy London restaurant and tasting every bit as good. We enjoyed the place, (including the local walks & scenery) so much we seriously considered extending our stay, only for work commitments to get in the way. We will definitely be visiting again in the near future and would recommend this to anyone looking for a nice relaxing and friendly get away.

We stayed for two nights at the Blue Ball Inn and had a fabulous time. The inn is perfectly situated in a peaceful village, surrounded by the most beautiful coutryside. We stayed in Stag cottage which had been recently renovated to the highest standard. The bedroom was big and well furnished and had a real cottage feel. Up a spiral staircase we found a beautiful bathroom complete with a victorian roll top bath and a spacious shower. This was particularly welcome after a long walk! We booked a table (it gets busy so you need to book) in the inn for the first night and were not disappointed by the food. The roasted tomato soup was thick and rich and the vegetarian pasta dish was perfectly cooked. We also tried the steak which was cooked medium rare - excellent. In fact the food was so good, we booked a table for the following night and were delighted to find that the menu had changed again - even more choice! I had the most amazing pudding too - rhubarb and custard with rhubarb schnapps and delicate biscuits - if it's on the menu, you have to try it! Most of the ingredients are sourced locally - definately not frozen, reheated food here. Breakfasts were fresh and filling and matched the standard of the evening meal. We really enjoyed relaxing in the bar afterwards and chatting to the locals - the local beer and cider were excellent and there was also a decent wine list too! We were made to feel very welcome at the Blue Ball Inn and cannot recommend it highly enough.
